Ahmedabad is one of the most visited tourist destinations in the country. There are plenty of places to see and visit within the four walls of the city. There are definitely some places amongst all the tourist attractions here that demand special attention and draw more crowds to them.

Historically this place is of special significance. He thus created this place from scratch and it slowly blossomed into a centre that even Gandhiji had not imagined. It soon became the hotbed of the Indian freedom struggle with Gandhiji spear heading many movements from here. The famous Dandi March, which was carried out to protest against the unlawful Salt Tax, took off from here with Gandhiji leading the way. Today the Sabarmati ashram has a museum and when you visit you can take a tour of the place and even see the place where Gandhiji and his wife had lived for many years.
  2. Swaminarayan Temple: This is a very popular tourist destination because of the religious significance that this place has. It was built in reverence to Swaminarayan. The most interesting feature of this temple is that it was the first of its kinds to have been built in the country in the Kalupur area of Ahmedabad. Apart from the religious significance that this temple boasts of, the wood carvings of this place are something to take special note of.
  3. Jama Masjid Mosque: This is another place of religious significance that is thronged by tourists during the tourist season. This mosque was built under the orders of Sultan Ahmed Shah, who is regarded to be the founder of this city. Named after the majestic Jama Masjid in Delhi, this one is no less in grandeur and a beautiful design.
  4. Kankaria Lake: The Kankaria Lake is conveniently located and hence you can access it from any one the hotels in Ahmedabad Gujarat. It is frequented by tourists and locals alike especially in the evening because of the relaxing atmosphere it provides and the lovely display of lights. It is the perfect way to end a fruitful day touring the city.
